Unimaginable Peace
“On the night Jesus was born something spectacular took place. The plains of Bethlehem became the theater for one of the most spectacular sound-and-light shows in human history. All heaven broke loose.” (RC Sproul) It wasn’t the sounds or sights recorded by Luke (2:8-20) or the object of this heavenly fanfare that captivated the shepherds. The announcement of God’s promise of peace to these societal outcasts prompted their determined departure to leave their livelihood behind for a glimpse of this infant born to be king.
Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people he favors! (Lk.2:14)
God’s message to us, like the shepherds, is that though we were all outcasts, Jesus came to earth to redeem us. At enmity with God, the blood of Jesus on the cross reconciles us to God our Creator and Father. This restored relationship with the One who loves us completely gives to us the peace that guards our hearts and minds as we trust in Jesus.
“Peace On Earth to people God favors” is the reality of all that was announced on the night Jesus entered human history 2,000 years ago.
Yeshua, Jesus, Isaiah the prophet’s Prince of Peace, has come. He is the Source of Unimaginable peace, a peace that goes beyond human comprehension, is secured by the substitutionary death of the incarnate Savior, and transforms all whose hearts are open to receive.
