The Believer’s Confident Hope

To remedy this grievous error by Peter, Paul taught a gospel of salvation by faith in Christ alone. He called this justification by faith (v.16). For Paul, justification by faith does not mean that believers are completely innocent or without any guilt of sin. Justification by faith means that believers are declared righteous before God, despite their sin and guilt. We are put into right relationship with God and nothing we do changes that reality because our standing is based on everything Christ has done and not what we do to add to it or undo it.
