How many times, on average, do Americans check their cell phone? According to a study from Reviews.org, quite frequently - but how often is it used for meaningful connections?
In our brokenness, we often break things, taking them out of their intended purpose with unintended consequences. Devices designed for communication and connection can sometimes become sources of distraction and disconnection. Over time, we take something given for one purpose, and distort it to our own. This is what has happened with the "Ten Commandments." Given as a vital part of the Mosaic covenant, they were not just a list of rules but the heartbeat of a loving God desiring closeness with His creation. However, just like our phones, we've reduced these divine instructions to "dos and don'ts", missing the relational depth they carry.
