God The Spirit
As we've been looking at going "all in" in our lives with God, it's important to know who we are going "all in" with. We live who we believe God is.
God's deepest desire is to be present with His people. This is a theme seen through scripture and is made possible through Christ's life, death, and resurrection... and begins to be realized at Pentecost. Prophesied by Joel, he saw a time in the last days when the Spirit of God would be poured out on all flesh. Not just filling the temple, or certain people at certain times for certain purposes, but fall on all flesh. Men and women would be filled with the Spirit, this is what Peter says is fullfilled in our passage yesterday.
The Spirit is not an "it" but a "who." A distinct member of the Trinity, the Spirit is essential to the Christian life. The Spirit teaches, guides, convicts, counsels, comforts, gives gifts, and so much more! It's important for us to learn to be in relationship with the Spirit as we seek to have our head, heart, and hands informed and influenced by the ways of God and His kingdom.
Being filled by the Spirit is not a one time event, but something we are continually encouraged to open ourselves to. As we enter this week, prayerfully be attentive to the Spirit's activity in you.
